Job Description

At Nurse Next Door, located at 2 Bloor Street W, Suite 700 Toronto Ontariowe provide care for seniors in homes, community and facility settings through our signature Happier Aging philosophy. We are looking for 3 Long-Term Care Aides who are compassionate, reliable, and committed to delivering exceptional care to seniors.

You will support seniors in community settings, nursing homes, hospitals and assisted care facilities by performing the following duties:

  • Assist with activities of daily living: including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
  • Assist in feeding, exercise routines, leisure activities.
  • Provide companionship, emotional support, and social engagement
  • Accompany seniors on recreational activities and community activities
  • Record vital signs [blood pressure, temperature, pulse]
  • Administer first aid in emergency situations.
  • Make beds and maintain patient rooms
  • Maintain inventory of supplies
  • Document care and complete reports accurately.
  • Meet safety standards and use equipment properly
  • Respond to Care Services Center (CSC) Team regarding scheduling inquiries and updates within the agreed upon timeline
  • Review the care plan prior to each visit carrying out all assigned tasks
  • Transport seniors between care facilities where required

 Terms: 

  • Permanent/full time positions
  • Wage $23/hour for 35-40 hours per week

  • AMS – Attendance Monitoring System (Alaya Care)

 

Education & Experience:

  • Some secondary schooling & on the job training OR Certification in health care or a nursing program.
  • Completion of CPR or First Aid course
  • Driver’s license.
  • 1-2 years’ experience.

Requirements:

We provide care 24/7, so visits may be scheduled early morning, afternoon, evening, or overnight to meet our clients’ needs.

  • Two positive professional references
  • Background or Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search (updated every 5 years for continued employment)
  • Negative TB test (updated every 5 years for continued employment)
  • Ability to travel independently to client visits
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal
